Lychee Slicer 3.6 is available now, and this version has brought many significant changes since version 3.5. Some of these are visible while others are not, but are necessary for developing many innovative features in future versions.

One of our first goals is to simplify 3D printing by removing its constraints as much as possible. We want to give users more time for the essentials: successful 3D prints, assembling them, painting them, and so much more.

And we are starting with a major new feature dedicated to the printing parameters linked to resins, which required us to redesign our entire infrastructure, opening the door to more innovative features at the user’s service.

If you wish to follow our development more closely and access our betas, we invite you to join our Discord server. Our Discord community is very active and most of the team is present daily alongside our users.

Community Resin Profiles [Free/Pro]

The most common question we see online from users is: “Who has a printing profile for my 3D printer, I use this resin, please help!??”. Perhaps you also asked this question the first time you discovered your 3D printer or after trying another brand of resin.

With the new Community Resin Profiles tool, we offer an extensive catalog of settings from our users’ 3D printers. You will almost certainly find the 3D printer and resin combination you are looking for. And this for the most popular brands as well as the most exotic ones.

For some, it is possible to see the success rate of the 3D prints, but also how many users are using the profile, how many liked this profile, and much more.

We have analyzed over 1,500,000 exports, and our tool continues to do so on an ongoing basis, thanks to Lychee Slicer’s print history. The more you use it, the more you validate your prints, the more you update the real printing times, and the more the community will benefit from your experience!

Many new printers: Mega 8K, Mini 8K, Mars 3, Photon Mono 4K and more!

After a long period of development time and collaboration with CBD-Tech company, we finally integrated the new encrypted CTB file format developed for their motherboards, used in recent printers from Elegoo, Phrozen, Epax, Peopoly to name a few.

With this update, you can finally unleash the true power of your new Elegoo Mars 3, Anycubic Mono 4K or Phrozen Mega 8K, now that Lychee Slicer is compatible with these 3D printers. Take advantage of its advanced features to prepare models with speed and precision.

We have also added the Two Stage Motion Control mode (TSMC), which allows controlling the movement of the plate with precision for printers supporting it, including the ones with a new firmware update like the famous Elegoo Saturn or Photozen Sonic Mini 4K.

Complete list of added 3D printers in Lychee Slicer 3.6:

  • Elegoo Mars 3 (and Jupiter coming soon)
  • Anycubic Photon Mono 4K
  • Anycubic Photon Mono X 6K
  • Anycubic Photon Mono SQ
  • Anycubic Photon Mono Ultra
  • EPAX E10 5K Mono
  • Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K
  • Phrozen Sonic Mini 8K
  • Peopoly Phenom Prime
  • Prusa SL1S
  • Kingroon KP6

New 3D Model Fixing Tool [Free/Pro]

With this new version of Lychee Slicer, you will no longer be dependent on external tools to repair your 3D models. Our new tool, developed entirely in-house, will allow you to repair your 3D models with holes, non-manifold edges, and other structural problems.

Multi-selection of models is also possible, allowing to fix several objects in one step.

Notes for 3D models [Pro/Free*]

Pro users can attach notes to 3D models to share object-specific information with other Lychee Slicer, Free, and Pro users.

The creators of 3D models will then be able to add technical information about the printing of the model or simply tips and tricks or the credits they want to apply. The editor includes basic text formatting and hyperlinks to lead the reader to the author’s website of choice.

It is possible to apply a password so that users who have the information can only edit the note, allowing collaborative work on scene preparations to be supported.

* Pro users can create and use notes. Free users can read them if they are already present in a scene, but they cannot create or edit a new note.

3D printers file format version (Free/Pro]

It is now possible to modify the slice file format that Lychee Slicer will export for your printer. Following firmware updates, some 3D printers require a new file format. Depending on your 3D printer firmware, you may have to change the version of the slice format to benefit from new features and parameters.

This mainly concerns printers using the CTB format (TSMC mode) and printers from the Halot family from Creality that bring printing parameters within Lychee Slicer when the next firmware will support it.

Support Tags [Pro / Free*]

Add tags to your support selections and make quick selections based on these tags! In one click, recall all the supports created as pillars or the ones used to stabilize the models, to change their settings… and only these supports!

With tags being saved in your scene, other Lychee Slicer users will be able to use them, whether they are with a Free or Pro subscription.

* Pro users can create and use tags. Free users can use them if they are already present in a scene, but they cannot create a new tag.

Hollowing Blockers [Pro]

When you decide to hollow out a model, there may be problematic parts because hollowing it out may create suction cups or be in areas where creating drain holes is impossible.

The Hollowing Blockers prevent material removal using simple 3D primitives (Cube, Sphere, and Cylinders), either via 2D Hollowing or 3D Hollowing.

With the 3D Hollowing, you will be able to see after updating the 3D model the result of the Hollowing Blocker while with 2D Hollowing, you will be able to see the impact of the tool in real-time.

Note: free users can open Lychee Slicer scene files with Hollowing Blocker, but it will not be possible to edit them.

Selective 2D Hollowing [Pro]

The 2D Hollowing function, which allows during the slicing process to hollow out the 3D models has been improved to be let you choose the models which will receive this hollowing. Previously, the entire scene was affected by the process.

The process is easy: toggle on and off the 2D hollowing per 3Dmodel in the Object list panel.

Distance Between Two Support Tips

Lychee Slicer now displays the distance between the selected support and the next one that you will create.

It’s great to help you understand the distance between two supports, as it can be challenging to evaluate the spacing between two supports in the view-port.

Support Join Cones updated [Pro]

We made several changes for the support join cones: they are now available with the raft and they fit the Adaptive Mode of the support bases, when enabled.

Improved sliced view

We updated the Clipping preview with several internal changes (memory usage and more), and it now displays in the preview the supports in orange and not in 100% white.

Single Feature Mode

A new concept for some functions and others to come has been introduced: the “Single Feature” mode.

Once you call up a tool using this mode, the interface will disappear, leaving only the functions specific to the current tool. You will then have to “exit” the tool to resume the normal workflow. The Hollow Blocker is the first feature to use this “Single Feature” mode.

And more!

As always, we’ve made multiple quality of life changes and smaller additions throughout the application. Here are a few more of the numerous improvements we’ve added to Lychee in version 3.6.

You can find the full changelog with all minor additions and bug fixes on our Downloads page.

  • We updated the LYS scene file format: the file size is now ~3 times smaller than before! Less disk usage All the previous versions of Lychee Slicer until 3.1.3 can read this new file format.
  • An error message will be displayed if the layer settings are set with a very small value for its thickness (mostly because of a unit error, like 0.05 microns while it should be 0.05 mm).
  • The hollowing cylinders that are used to generate the holes can now be exported. Then they can be used in modeling software to perform a boolean operation and create the drain holes.
  • Search bar to find your 3D printer: We now have so many printers that a search feature was needed!
  • We made adjustments to the Magic function. It now uses the medium setting for the automatic supports and no longer the lighter support settings. Some users had print failures because the tips were too small.

Lychee Slicer 3.6 is available for all users, either as a free version or with a Pro subscription. Download the latest version from our download center right now or update directly from Lychee Slicer.

We’d love for you to join our community on our Discord server, it’s completely free! Several thousand users are exchanging ideas and sharing their 3D printing experience with Lychee Slicer every day.
