Here at Mango 3D, we love seeing people using and enjoying Lychee Slicer to bring their passion to life. We want to highlight our users, so here is our new series of articles: Featured Artists!

As the first Featured Artist, we don’t have one artist but two to introduce you! Here are the Beast BrothersFrom movies to 3D printing, Carlos and Ernesto never stopped creating!

Ernesto and Carlos are users of Lychee Slicer and use it during their production workflow. We truly love their unique creative style, inspired by their own lives and diverse experiences! But the best way to learn to know them is to ask them directly! And that’s what we did.

3D Printing talk with The Beast Brothers

Q: Could you introduce yourself and your work as artists in a few words?

A: We are twin brothers from Mexico City and currently live in Los Angeles California

We grew up in the movie industry back home and acted in a bunch of movies alongside our father. We grew up surrounded by all sorts of artists and we love to hang out with the special effects team in particular.

There we started to learn the basics of what would turn out our current career. Our true love has always been to create cool stuff and design toys and we currently work creating special effects for the movie industry.

Q: What are your main sources of inspiration?

A: We find inspiration in other artists and in collecting toys and art.

Q: When and how did you start 3D printing?

A: We started getting into 3D printing back in 2017, decided to buy a filament printer and started to learn 3D modeling. It’s been a bumpy road but if you keep practicing and working hard you will see the results.

This technology allows us to create more with less restrictions, before we needed to find someone to model the stuff then find a place

To print which will end up being really expensive and would take longer.

Q: Which feature of Lychee Slicer helps you the most with your work?

A: The supports are AMAZING! Haven’t had a single failed print due support problems since using Lychee Slicer. The manual supports are one of the biggest things I like since you can really adjust things deeply and super efficiently.

Another thing I really enjoy is the hollowing features and the recently added blockers those are super helpful.

Usually I import the files and orient them to keep the details as sharp as possible and to hide the support marks. Then I decide if theres need to hollow large parts and create supports internally if necessary (the blockers come in hand at that stage)

After that I spend quite some time analyzing the model and adding supports manually. I really recommend is to spend the extra time and add the supports manually, its a longer process but it will help with better prints and less failures also don’t forget to use the micro supports those also help a lot!

Q: What is your best tip for a successful print?

A: Spend time thinking on the way the file will be printed and split it if necessary so the details come out the best.

Also spend time creating supports, manual supports are 100% the way to get successful prints.

Q: What is your favorite project you made?

A: There’s some NDAs right now that we will be happy to share as soon the project comes out to light.

But other than those our own toys are the most fun and currently we are re-working some old pieces that needed some improvements.

And for movie projects the “Bill & Ted Face the Music” film was really fun to work on!

Q: Can we have a sneak peek of your future project?

A: We are working on making toys all the time, were are working on two figures at the moment here are some images! One is a revision of a cool ghost that resembles the swoosh logo and the other one is making a body for a heart designWe made it 2 years ago so it can be used to display them.

Q: Do you have something else to tell us? Feel free to say it here!

A: Spend at least 15 minutes every day doing something creative or at least something that makes you happy, consistency and practice are key to become better and grow.

One of the things that really called my attention about Lychee Slicer was the amazing support and how quick you hear back.
